Studio policy & zero tolerance
Here at MegsLocks we’ve set our policies so clients and Meg stay safe and everyone gets a fair crack. We have a zero-tolerance approach. If you ignore this policy, you’ll be asked to leave. (Yes, that includes anyone who thinks the rules don’t apply to them.)
- Meg reserves the right to refuse or stop any service for any reason — especially if you’re under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or in an unfit mental state to sit through a long appointment safely.
- Intoxicated or under the influence? No procedure. Turned away. No exceptions. It puts you and Meg at risk — end of story.
- If you show up intoxicated, we’re happy to rebook you on the spot — but your booking fee or deposit may be lost at our discretion, and you’ll need to pay again to secure a future appointment.
- If you arrive in a poor mental state or not your usual self, Meg will offer well-being support and advise when to reschedule. Your deposit may still be lost at our discretion, and you’ll need a new deposit for your next booking.
- Abusive, threatening or disruptive behaviour won’t be tolerated. Be sound. We’ll be sound back.
- Children can only attend if they’re booked in for a service. The studio is inside a busy tattoo shop — not a crèche.
1. Who we are
MegsLocks is run by Megan Greene, trading as MegsLocks (sole trader). One woman, a lot of dreads, based in Manchester — when you message us you’re talking to Meg, not a call centre.
- Studio (appointments): Bear Ink Society Tattoo Studio, 24 Milnrow Road, Manchester
- Phone: 07863 835418
- Email: megs@megslocks.co.uk
2. Bookings
All appointments must be booked in advance — maintenance, reinstalls, installs, braids and bespoke work included.
- We work Wednesday to Saturday. Sunday to Tuesday the studio’s shut — Meg’s recharging, not ignoring you.
- First appointments from 9:30am; last one starts no later than 3:30pm. Hair takes time. Good hair takes longer.
- Please book online or enquire before you turn up. Walk-ins might get lucky, but don’t bank on it — we’d hate to send you away in the Manchester rain.
- Maintenance and synthetic reinstalls can be booked online. New installs, braids and bespoke work need an enquiry first — Meg will confirm price, duration and deposit before anything’s locked in.
- We strongly advise you chat with Meg or submit an enquiry before booking bigger work, so the safest and best decision gets made before you’re in the chair for six hours.
3. Booking fees & deposits
- Online bookings for maintenance and reinstalls need a £20 booking fee to secure your appointment.
- If hair extensions are required, they must be paid for before your appointment.
- The booking fee comes off your total when you attend, unless we’ve said otherwise at the time of booking.
- New installs, natural dreadlocks, braid-in sets and bespoke work need a deposit once Meg accepts your enquiry — typically £100–£350 for human hair and £30–£70 for synthetic, depending on materials and coverage.
- Deposits are non-refundable if you cancel after materials are ordered or work’s been prepared, unless Meg agrees otherwise. Extensions don’t grow on trees.
4. Cancellations & rescheduling
Life happens. So do no-shows. Straight, no messing:
- Cancellations within 48 hours mean you’ll need to pay half the appointment fee before a new date can be booked. No payment, no new date.
- More than 48 hours’ notice? You can usually reschedule, subject to availability. The booking fee may transfer at Meg’s discretion.
- No-show: the full booking fee is kept, and you may need to pay in full before we accept future bookings.
- If Meg has to cancel — illness, emergency, or the tram eating her morning — your fee will be refunded or moved. We’ll let you know ASAP.
5. Prices
- Maintenance prices depend on how long it’s been since your last visit (6–8 weeks, 8–12 weeks, or 12 weeks+). Pick the tier that honestly matches your hair — we can tell if it’s been longer.
- Bespoke installs and enquiry-based work vary in price — detail, coverage, materials and time all matter. Meg confirms your final price before your appointment is confirmed.
- If your hair needs more time or work than the service booked, an additional charge may apply. Meg will tell you before carrying on where possible.
- Website prices are a guide, not a quote over WhatsApp at 2am.
6. Your appointment
- Please arrive on time. 10-minute grace period — after that we may need to reschedule so the next client isn’t kept waiting.
- Tell Meg about allergies, scalp conditions, sensitivities or medical issues before we start. Surprises belong in birthday parties, not appointments.
- Before starting, Meg will explain what’s happening and check you’re happy to go ahead. Ask questions — daft questions are fine. Unasked questions aren’t.
- Photos of your hair may be taken for portfolio or marketing only with your consent. Your head, your call.
Before you book — what to send
Good photos save everyone a back-and-forth. Blurry nightclub-toilet pics won’t cut it.
- Maintenance: clear, recent photos from several angles; root maintenance or full root-to-tip; any repairs needed.
- Natural installs: hair pics in natural and indoor light; inspiration pics; extension type; coverage; filler dreads, braids or curls if wanted.
- Synthetic / braid-in: hair pics; inspiration pics; colours; coverage; desired length.
- Use the enquiry form or email megs@megslocks.co.uk with photos before maintenance appointments.
7. Aftercare
It’s important you go home with the right aftercare for your hair. Meg will explain what you need and how to look after your set or dreads.
- Synthetic sets are usually worn 8–10 weeks before removal and reinstall. Look after them and they can be reused.
- Damage from ignoring aftercare advice, excessive heat, harsh products, or DIY removal gone wrong isn’t on us — we’ve seen things.
- Natural dreadlock results vary with hair type, condition and how you maintain between visits.
8. Online shop
Orders & payment
- Products are handmade. Colours and details may vary slightly from photos — that’s handcrafted, not a mistake.
- Prices in GBP, VAT included where applicable. UK standard delivery is £5.25 per order unless checkout says otherwise.
- Payment at checkout via our secure provider. We don’t store your full card details.
- Order confirmed once payment lands. Check spam if the confirmation’s gone quiet.
Delivery
- We ship to the United Kingdom only for now.
- Delivery times are estimates — Royal Mail has its own ideas sometimes.
- Risk passes to you once delivered to the address you gave us. Double-check it — we can’t help if it went to your old flat in Fallowfield.
Returns & refunds
- Under UK consumer law you have a 14-day right to cancel online purchases and return unused items in original condition.
- Hygiene-related hair accessories can’t be returned once opened or worn unless faulty.
- Faulty or damaged on arrival? Contact us within 48 hours with photos. We’ll repair, replace or refund.
- Custom or made-to-order items may not be returnable unless faulty.
See our Refund & Returns Policy.
9. Enquiries
When you submit an enquiry, we use what you send (including photos) to assess your request and quote properly. An enquiry doesn’t guarantee an appointment — Meg will get back to you as soon as she can, usually within a few working days.
Only upload photos you have the right to share. Don’t send pictures of your mate without asking first.
10. Website use
- Content on this site belongs to MegsLocks unless we say otherwise. Don’t nick it.
- We try to keep information accurate but can’t promise the site is always error-free or online.
- Links to other sites are for convenience. We’re not responsible for what’s on them.
11. Privacy
We handle your data as set out in our Privacy Policy. GDPR-compliant, not sketchy.
12. Liability
- Hair services are provided with reasonable skill and care. We’re not liable if results differ from a Pinterest inspo pic, or for issues from undisclosed allergies, conditions, or ignoring aftercare advice.
- Nothing here limits your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law. Your legal rights still apply in full.
- To the fullest extent permitted by law, MegsLocks isn’t liable for indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid for that service or product.
13. Issues, complaints & compliments
If you have any complaints or concerns, please get in touch — your feedback matters and we’ll take it on board so the same thing doesn’t happen again. Contact megs@megslocks.co.uk or 07863 835418 as soon as you can.
Compliments are welcome too — we like to know when we’re doing a good job. ☺
14. Changes
We may update these terms occasionally. What’s on this page is the current version. Keep using the site or our services after changes go live and that counts as acceptance.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes go to the courts of England and Wales, without prejudice to your rights as a consumer. The boring bit — but it’s there for a reason.
Questions? Give us a shout — we don’t bite. (Unless you’re a tangle. Then we might, gently.)
